Eligible Afterpay customers can use Afterpay Rent to split their payments through Bilt subscriptions. Bilt manages rent payment settlement directly to property managers. Afterpay is not involved in landlord or property relationships.
When available, Afterpay lets you split your rent into two payments:
The first payment is due when you make your rent payment.
The second payment is due about two weeks later.
A recurring $35 monthly subscription fee applies to use Afterpay Rent through Bilt. This fee is separate from your rent payments and is charged about two weeks after your first rent payment.
Eligibility
Afterpay Rent with Bilt is available to eligible existing Afterpay customers in select US states: Alabama, Idaho, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming. Availability depends on factors including your location, account status, payment history, and payment method.
If you don’t see Afterpay as a payment option in Bilt, or your rent payment is declined, check that your Afterpay account is up to date in the Afterpay app. Eligibility is reviewed each time you make a rent payment, so availability may change from month to month.
Manage your subscription
You need the latest version of the Afterpay app to manage or cancel your Afterpay Rent subscription. You can cancel at any time in the Afterpay app, by unlinking Bilt from Linked Businesses in the app, or through the Afterpay website.
If you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. Any existing rent payment installments will still be collected on their original schedule.
Autopay with Bilt
Bilt may let you turn on autopay for future rent payments. Bilt autopay is managed by Bilt and is different from Afterpay autopay.
Each monthly rent payment is treated as a new Afterpay payment plan. Eligibility and payment amounts are reviewed each month.
If your subscription fee payment doesn’t go through
If your recurring $35 subscription fee payment doesn’t go through, Afterpay will retry the payment automatically. While the fee is unpaid, you won’t be able to use Afterpay for new rent payments through Bilt.
Check that your payment method in the Afterpay app is up to date and has enough funds.
What payment methods does Afterpay accept?
Afterpay accepts:
Linked debit or credit cards, or linked bank accounts for rent installment payments.
Linked debit or credit cards for subscription payments.
Apple Pay is not accepted.
