How can we help?

Is there a cost to using Afterpay?

The costs of using Afterpay depend on which product you're using.

Pay in 4

Pay in 4 is interest-free. You pay for your purchases in 4 instalments over 6 to 8 weeks, in accordance with the Customer Terms.

Monthly fees apply to customers who have upgraded to an Afterpay Plus subscription. See the Specific Terms for details.

Afterpay caps late fees to help keep costs manageable for customers who miss a payment.

Late fees on a Pay in 4 order are capped at 25% of the original order value or $68, whichever is lower:

  • For orders $40 or less: a single late fee of 25% of the original order value may apply if a payment is missed

  • For orders over $40: $10 when a payment is missed, plus $7 if the payment is still overdue 7 days later

We may charge partial amounts of these fees to ensure we stay within the late fee cap.

Pay Monthly

Pay Monthly is a longer-term credit product. Unlike Pay in 4, interest applies.

Interest:

  • Standard rate: 19.99% p.a., calculated daily on the remaining principal and charged monthly.

  • Promotional rates (such as 0% p.a.) may apply on selected products and terms from time to time

  • The applicable rate is shown at checkout before you confirm

  • You'll see the total cost, including any interest, upfront. You won't pay more interest than the amount shown in your payment summary

Late fees (if a monthly payment is overdue):

  • $17 when a payment is missed

  • $12 more if the payment remains unpaid 7 days later

  • Capped at the lower of 15% of the original order value or $250 per order

  • Late fees do not accrue interest

Where to find your costs:

Your total cost (including any interest) and applicable late fees are shown in your payment summary at checkout and in your payment schedule in the My Afterpay tab in the app or web portal.
